After a year of contemplating, I finally got my first set of chickens, eight hens and one rooster. They are barred rocks with a little something mixed. I like them even more than I thought I would. I've had them less than a week and I already have a path worn out to their temporary housing. My intention is to build a chicken tractor on wheels so that I can free range them from one spot to another on our lil ten acre farm. We are in the produce business so the chicken tractor will serve multiple purposes, natural fertilizer, working the land and the egg production which I will market at the farmers markets that we are already established at. I am very excited about my new adventure.
